The Mars Hill volleyball team (6-2, 2-1 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (8-3, 3-0 SAC) in four sets (20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 12-25) Saturday afternoon.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (6-2, 2-1 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (8-3, 3-0 SAC) in four sets (20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 12-25) Saturday afternoon.
The Bears took the first set, 25-20, knocking down 13 kills in the set. The team hit .143 to Mars Hill's .089.
Mars Hill battled back in the second to tie the match at 1-1, hitting a team-high .200 in the frame with 14 kills.
Lenoir-Rhyne rattled off 18 kills in third set and followed up their strong offensive showing in the fourth, recording 15 kills and hitting a match-high .467.
Emmaleigh Allen led all players with 17 kills and added 17 digs for the double-double. Taylor Osbourne clinched all three sets for the Bears and ended the match with 15 kills.
Katilyn Grant led the Lions with 13 kills, hitting .440 on the day. Jada Cannon added 10 kills and 13 digs for the double-double while leading the team with four blocks. Laela Jimenez led all players with 30 digs while Jordan Schmucker collected 46 assists.
The Lions host Tusculum on Tuesday, September 19 to wrap up their three-match homestand. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
