Volleyball Drops Season Opener to Wingate Tuesday Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University volleyball team dropped its 2021 season opener to Wingate Tuesday night (Sept. 7) by a score of 3-0.

The Cobras battled in close sets of 25-22 and 25-17, before Wingate took the third set 25-12.

Coker was led offensively by six kills from Emily Everton, while Chelsey Blume and Naomi Earl-Reyes each posted five kills. Six others registered kills in the match for Coker. Rami Mullen posted a team-best 12 assists, while Ashley Carson dished out seven and Olivia Cerick and Everton each added one. Everton and Taylor Parker each registered a team-high seven digs, while six others posted digs in the match. Blume and Earl-Reyes also each had one block assist in the match.

Coker returns to action this weekend in Aiken, S.C. at the Pacer Invitational. The Cobras will play Converse at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 10) before taking on host USC Aiken at 7:30 p.m. Video and live stats for the matches will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
