
Lions roll UVA Wise for sixth straight win

WISE, Va. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (6-0, 2-0 SAC) defeated UVA Wise (3-3, 0-2 SAC) in straight sets (25-14, 25-12, 25-10) Friday night on the road.
The Lions notched seven kills in the first half while UVA Wise recorded 10 attack errors, leading to a -.043 hitting percentage. The Mars Hill offense continued to roll, hitting a dominant .538 in the second frame that saw the team knock down 14 kills with no errors in the set.
Mars Hill cruised through the third set, allowing only 10 points and hitting .360 to close out their second straight conference win.
Sarah Goddard led all players with nine kills and added nine digs. Jana Cuk and Nikkayla Stewart added eight kills apiece while Stewart led all pllayers, hitting .500 on the night.
Jordan Schmucker led all players with 23 assists while Laela Jimenez led all players with 15 digs. Grace Lilly led everyone with four blocks (2 BS, 2 BA) on the night.
Mars Hill returns to the courts on Saturday, September 10 when they face Emory & Henry on the road. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
