
Mars Hill falls in four to Saints
The Mars Hill volleyball team (8-6, 4-5 SAC) was defeated in four sets (25-20, 21-25, 9-25, 24-26) to Limestone (8-6, 6-5 SAC) Tuesday night.
GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (8-6, 4-5 SAC) was defeated in four sets (25-20, 21-25, 9-25, 24-26) to Limestone (8-6, 6-5 SAC) Tuesday night.
The Lions hit a team-best .245 in the first set, knocking down 15 kills on 49 attempts. A late run in the second saw Limestone pull away to even the match at one. The Saints posted 13 kills while Mars Hill notched 12 in the frame.
The Saints dominated the third from the jump, going on a 6-1 run to open the set and never looked back. They hit a match-high .323 with 13 kills on 31 attempts.
The fourth set saw the teams extend the frame with Limestone clinching the match on a 2-0 run, taking the final frame 26-24. Despite recording a match-high 17 kills in the set, the Lions also committed 12 errors.
The Saints hit .182 with Josie Curan leading all players with 13 kills followed by 12 from Tatum Riddle. Timmons Yates led the Lions with 10 kills followed by nine apiece from both Jada Cannon and Katilyn Grant.
Laela Jimenez led all players with 26 digs while Jordan Schmucker collected the double-double with 36 assists and 16 digs.
The Lions return to the court on Saturday, October 14 when they host Anderson. First serve is set for 2 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
