The Mars Hill softball team (9-10, 2-4 SAC) split their Sunday doubleheader with Emory & Henry (7-8, 4-2 SAC), falling in game one by a score of 1-0, but taking game two by a score of 6-0.

EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill softball team (9-10, 2-4 SAC) split their Sunday doubleheader with Emory & Henry (7-8, 4-2 SAC), falling in game one by a score of 1-0, but taking game two by a score of 6-0.
GAME ONE: E&H 1, MHU 0
The Wasps capitalized on two late Mars Hill errors, claiming victory in the bottom of the seventh, 1-0.
In the fourth inning, both teams had opportunities to score runs with runners on second and third with two outs. Solid pitching efforts from Avery Adkins and Rebekah Howard quelled the threats and keeping the game scoreless until the bottom of the seventh.
Mars Hill was held to two hits in the contest, coming off the bats of Miranda Marks and Maegan Blair. Adkins and Mackenzie Williams led all players with two hits apiece.
Adkins struck out 10 in complete game victory. Howard struck out five, allowing six hits in 6.2 innings thrown.
GAME TWO: MHU 6, E&H 0
Mars Hill used a four-run third inning to propel them to victory in game two, earning the split.
The Lions opened the scoring with a two-run single up the middle off the bat of Kristyn Ezzo, scoring Ella Brooks and Alyssa Poston. Later in the inning, Ezzo and Miranda Marks were plated off of a Maia Sholter single to center field.
Brooks earned her first RBI of the game in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly to left field. In the top of the sixth, she collected her second with a double to left, scoring Amber McLaren.
Ezzo led all players with three hits while the trio of Ezzo, Brooks, and Sholter recorded two RBI.
Poston struck out four, allowing just four hits in the complete game victory.
The Lions return to action on Monday, March 6 when they host USC Aiken. First pitch at Ponder Field is set for 1 p.m.
