Women's Lacrosse Breaks Program Records As They Defeat The Bobcats

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team defeated the Bobcats of Lees-McRae 27-2 Saturday afternoon, and set some new program records while doing so.

The first quarter was the highest scoring quarter for the Railsplitters. The scoring started quickly for LMU, as Amber Kirkpatrick scored the first goal with 14 minutes left in the first quarter, assisted by Josie Tinnerello. The second goal, which was not even 30 seconds later with 13:50 remaining, the two swapped places as Tinnerello scored her first goal of the game while Kirkpatrick had the assist. Jaiden Jaynes would score her first goal of the game with 12:57 remaining, and Jaedyn Ryba would score her first with 11:44 remaining, both unassisted. Madison Proud scored the first man-up goal of the game, assisted by Jaynes, with 10:59 remaining. The Tinnerello/Kirkpatrick duo would connect once again as Tinnerello scores with 10:09 remaining and Kirkpatrick earning the assist. Ryan Smith would tally her first career goal with 9:17 left in the first, with Kirkpatrick recording her third assist of the match, just in the first quarter. The last two goals of the first quarter would come from Breanna Booth and Kirkpatrick, with 8:13 and 3:19 remaining, respectively.

The second quarter scoring from Lincoln Memorial would begin just as quickly as the first as Tinnerello would earn the hat trick scoring her third goal of the match with 13:57 remaining. Kirkpatrick would get the assists from Tinnerello's goal as well as the next goal which comes from Jalee Davis's man-up goal with 11:32 left in the second, her first goal of her career. McKenzie Cates would earn her first goal of the match with 10:28 remaining, assisted by Tinnerello. Kirkpatrick would earn the hat trick nearly five minutes later at 5:58 remaining, with Smith getting her first assist of the match. Smith would then go and score a goal of her own with 3:34 left in the match, unassisted. The last goal of the half would come from Jaynes, with Ryba getting credit for the assist. The score going into halftime was 15-0 with the Railsplitters taking a huge lead.

In the third quarter, Cates would score her second goal of the match not even a minute into play, with 14:30 remaining in the quarter, with the assist coming from Tinnerello. Ryba would earn her second goal of the match unassisted with 11:53 remaining, and Emma Limestahl would earn her first career goal with 10:10 remaining with Ryba getting the assist. Cates would score her second goal of the quarter and her third of the match with 8:08 remaining, unassisted. Lees-McRae's first goal of the match would be scored with 7:21 remaining by Lutsky. Cates had a busy third quarter, as she scores her third goal of the quarter with 4:17 left, with Tinnerello once again assisting. Kirkpatrick would score her fourth goal of the match with 2:51 remaining, with Limestahl tallying her first assist. The last goal of the third quarter would come from Davis, unassisted.

The fourth quarter was the least scoring quarter for the Railsplitters, as only 5 goals were scored. Tinnerello would earn her fourth goal of the match with 12:35 remaining, assisted by Jaynes. Proud and Ryba would also tally goals, Proud's with 10:54 remaining and Ryba's with 8:50 remaining, both unassisted. The Bobcat's second goal of the game would be with 5:15 remaining, with Lutsky earning her second goal. The final goal of the match would come from Booth as she earns her second goal of the match with 2:52 remaining, unassisted.
Tinnerello tallied 4 goals and 5 assists, Kirkpatrick recorded 4 goals and 3 assists, and Cates registered 4 goals. Jaynes and Ryba would both earn 3 goals, with Jaynes tallying 3 assists and Ryba recording 2. Smith would post 2 goals and 1 assist, and Proud, Davis, and Booth would all record 2 goals each. Limestahl would earn 1 goal and 1 assist.

Ryba, Cates, Proud, Booth, and Duck would be tied as game-leaders in ground balls with 2 each. Ryba and Duck would lead in caused turnovers with 3 each. Keegan Gillman would earn herself 2 saves on the afternoon.

As a team, LMU recorded 42 shots, 6/6 successful clears, 13 ground balls, and won 20 draw controls. The Railsplitters only committed 2 turnovers the whole match.

Some pretty big program records were broken during this match. Today's match was the highest scoring match in program history with 27. It was also the biggest scoring margin in program history with 25. Tinnerello also hit a milestone as she surpassed 100 points during the match.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 1-0 on the season.

They will be on the road for their next match, as they travel to Huntsville, AL to face the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Wednesday, February 5th, with the match set to start at 2 pm.
