The Mars Hill softball team (11-16, 2-7 SAC) was swept by Lenoir-Rhyne (29-7, 6-2 SAC) by scores of 8-0 and 6-0 Sunday afternoon on the road.

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill softball team (11-16, 2-7 SAC) was swept by Lenoir-Rhyne (29-7, 6-2 SAC) by scores of 8-0 and 6-0 Sunday afternoon on the road.
GAME ONE: L-R 8, MHU 0
A five-run third inning pushed Lenoir-Rhyne to the game one victory.
Leading 1-0 after the first, the Bears scored five in the third, highlighted by Lauren Rakes' grand slam. She recorded another RBI in the bottom of the fifth with a single down the left field line that scored Kaylee Chapman.
Rakes went 2-for-3 with five RBI and also earned the win, her 11th of the season. She allowed just two hits while striking out 14 on the day.
Farley Park and Jessica Senn recorded the two Lions' hits in the contest.
GAME TWO: L-R 6, MHU 0
The Bears once again used a five-run inning to lead them to victory and complete the Sunday sweep.
A pair of two-run home runs off the bats of Lora Beth Wood and Madison Wilson highlighted the fourth inning scoring. Wilson struck out seven, allowing four hits in the win.
Leah Grimes led the Lions with two hits while Farley Park and Payton Little also recorded hits on the day.
Mars Hill returns to action on Thursday, March 28 when they host Newberry at Ponder Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
