
#24 Women’s Tennis continues shutout streak, tops UVA Wise 4-0
Salisbury, N.C. —- The 24th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team completed the entire month of February without conceding an overall doubles or singles point to its opponent, moving to 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference play with a win over UVA Wise at the Johnson Tennis Courts on Thursday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Catawba's #2 doubles team of Sofia Antolini and Rin Igarashi earned a clean 6-0 sweep to kick off doubles play
- The #1 team of Lili Drukerova and Ami Miya clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory
- Nika Dundovic and Tina Gomes led 5-3 in #3 doubles play at the stoppage point
SINGLES
- Antolini earned a win in #1 singles with no points lost in either format, sweeping her counterpart 6-0, 6-0
- Dundovic also came through with a 6-2, 6-1 win in #6s play
- Miya clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win in #3s action
- Anna Wise led 6-0, 4-1 at the stoppage point as the #2 singles player
- Mati Moretti picked up a victory in the opening set 6-1 and trailed 4-3 in the second when play ended
- Igarashi led 6-3, 3-2 when the match was clinched
