
Mars Hill downs Emory & Henry to wrap up weekend road trip
The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-0, 3-0 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry (1-8, 1-3 SAC) in four sets (25-27, 26-24, 25-22, 25-15) Saturday afternoon on the road.
EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-0, 3-0 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry (1-8, 1-3 SAC) in four sets (25-27, 26-24, 25-22, 25-15) Saturday afternoon on the road.
After dropping the first set, the Lions roared back to take the next three sets. Mars Hill, despite falling late in the first, hit a game-high .289 as a team.
Mars Hill recorded 16 kills on 38 attempts in the second, followed by 15 kills apiece in the third and fourth sets, respectively, to come away with their seventh straight win.
Jana Cuk hit a game-high .467 on the day, recording 17 kills on 30 swings. Sarah Goddard matched Cuk with 17 kills. Cuk added five block assists followed by Nikkayla Stewart's four. Goddard, Emma Vacha, and Jordan Schmucker each added three apiece.
Schmucker collected a game-high 49 assists while Laela Jimenez added five and led all players with 24 digs.
Mars Hill returns home to take on Carson-Newman on Tuesday, September 13 inside Chambers Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
