
Lions fall to Lenoir-Rhyne to conclude season series

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (10-10, 7-6 SAC) was defeated in straight sets versus Lenoir-Rhyne (13-8, 8-5 SAC) Tuesday evening at home.
With the Lions leading 13-11 midway through the first set, the Bears reeled off five of the next six points to take a 16-14 lead. The Bears held the lead for the remainder of the set, closing out the frame with back-to-back kills from Taylor Prall.
The Lions trailed 15-11 in the second set before pulling within one midway through. Lenoir-Rhyne responded by taking nine of the next 12 points, including a 4-0 run to end the set, heading into the third up 2-0.
The Bears led by as many as six points in the third, however, a late run by the Lions tied the game at 23 at the end of the frame. Lenoir-Rhyne ended the game by taking the next two points to complete their season sweep of the Lions.
Prall led all players with 16 kills and added 13 digs for the double-double. Alannah Thomas added 11 kills while Alexis Ivey and Madison Asher recorded four blocks apiece.
Sarah Goddard led the Lions with 10 kills. Sally Anne Johnson added eight kills and two blocks. Ully Martins led all players with 26 digs while Jordan Schmucker led the team with 17 assists.
The Lions return to action on Friday, October 25 when they host Tusculum. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
