Lions wrap up home slate on Senior Day
The Mars Hill women's soccer team (4-5-6, 2-5-3 SAC) was defeated 2-0 versus Newberry (5-10-2, 2-6-2 SAC) Friday evening in their final home contest of the 2023 season.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (4-5-6, 2-5-3 SAC) was defeated 2-0 versus Newberry (5-10-2, 2-6-2 SAC) Friday evening in their final home contest of the 2023 season.
Newberry struck in the 18th minute as Emily Castaneda netted her first of the season, putting home a rebound that bounced off the crossbar.
In the second half, in the 79th minute, Molly Quartly's second of the season doubled the Wolves lead.
Carla Humera led all Lions with four shot attempts followed by three from Zoie Steinkamp.
Mars Hill outshot Newberry 17-13 with four shots on target. Sarah Waller made four saves for the win. Camryn Miller made six saves on the night.
At the conclusion of the night, 10 seniors were celebrated on Senior Night. Julia Luna, Zoie Steinkamp, Marianne Ross, Kenzie Quinley, Bailey Whitehead-Price, Elida Taylor, Ashley Lindsay, Jade MacDonald, Riley Nash, and Olivia Wilson were all recognized for their contributions to the program.
The Lions wrap up their regular season on Wednesday, November 1 when they take on Limestone on the road. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
