Trojans Gain Momentum Heading Into Conference Play With Solid Win Over Emmanuel; 5-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Using a relentless offensive attack, Anderson (1-2) earned its first win of the season after scoring five goals (5-0) against nonconference opponent Emmanuel (0-3) on Wednesday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"We are thankful to have put the ball in the back of the net and see what we've worked on in training translate to the game," said head coach Sarah Jacobs.

"We are looking forward to conference play starting Saturday," added Jacobs.

Graduate Leanna Guion scored the lone goal in the first half during the 24th minute from a feed from freshman Kaitlyn Gregory. In the 54th minute of action, Guion returned the favor to Gregory putting the Trojans ahead, 2-0.

Anderson continued to let it fly in the final 35 minutes, finding the back of the net in the 70th (McKenna Falarski; assisted by Carley Keuffer), 74th (Bethany Anderson; assisted by Catherine Nardella) and 78th minute (Mary Krieger; assisted by Emma Deadwyler). The Trojans outshot the Lions 36-7 and took nine corners to Emmanuel's nil.

Senior keep Victoria McGovern recorded three saves on the evening.

The Black and Gold are back in action when they travel to South Atlantic Conference foe Carson-Newman. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm in Jefferson City, Tenn.
