Fifteen SAC Student-Athletes Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Teams

ROCK HILL (TheSAC.com) – Fifteen student-athletes from South Atlantic Conference schools were named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, on Thursday (May 17). Selected by CoSIDA, the Google Cloud Academic All-District® recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.

Earning All-District® for the women are Tusculum's Franziska Funke, Katarina Majorova and Annie McCullough, Wingate's Sydney Homan, Lincoln Memorial's Lisa Malherbe, Carson-Newman's Mary Northcutt, Lenoir-Rhyne's Ainee O'Connor and Queens' McKenzie Stevens.

Earning All-District® for the men are Carson-Newman's Pade Duke,  Anthony Marcinelli and Kevin Mendes, Wingate's Daniel Belsito, Niklas Martin and Giacomo Viazzo. Also named to the first team was Lenoir-Rhyne's Noah McRea.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
