Six SAC Student-Athletes Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District© Volleyball Team
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Six South Atlantic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Division II Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). All honorees represented different schools.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
District 3, comprised of the Peach Belt, Conference Carolinas, and the South Atlantic Conference, had eight spots to fill, six of which were claimed by the SAC.
From Lenoir-Rhyne, senior outside hitter Angelica Arroyo was recognized for her 3.80 GPA in biology.
Anderson's junior setter Emily Conlin has a 4.00 GPA in business/computer information systems.
Taylor du Bray, Coker's junior right side hitter, maintains a 3.95 GPA in business administration.
Holding a 3.94 GPA in political science from Wingate is Anna Holmquist, senior middle blocker.
Alyssa Rojas, a junior defensive specialist attending Tusculum, is earning a 3.94 GPA in biology/pre-medicine.
From Lincoln Memorial, senior libero Erica Whiteaker, the recent recipient of the SAC's volleyball Elite 20 Award, has a perfect 4.00 GPA in biology/pre-medicine.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
