The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, Mar. 22
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Sarai Hayes was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Ella Fox from Queens was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested the first week of the season, the League announced today.
Hayes, a junior from Valdese, N.C., posted three first-place finishes at the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational over the weekend. She posted a school-record time of 22.05 in the 200-meter event and clocked in at 12.25 in the 100-meter final. Hayes was also a part of the 400-meter squad that clocked in at 48.85. In the 1,600-meter relay, her squad finished second as they finished the race in a time of 4:12.84. The award marks her first Track Athlete of the Week plaudit this season.
Fox, a senior from Sellerville, Pa., took third in the javelin in a stacked field at the Charlotte 49er Classic with a school-record throw of 141' 3" over the weekend. She also posted a mark of 38' 3.50" in the shot put to finish 16th overall. The award is her first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
