The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for events during the opening weekend of the 2019-20 season. Coker earned the track honors with Calene Lazere and Queens gathered the field honors with To'Mara Carmichael.
A sophomore sprinter, Lazere shattered a Cobra school record in the 60m with a time of 7.61, beating her prior mark of 7.70. Lazere's mark of 7.61 makes her a provisional qualifier for nationals. This is Lazere's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A Junior thrower, Carmichael picked up two first-place finishes at the App State Open this past weekend. She won the shot put with a mark of 12.29 meters and the weight throw with a mark of 15.63 meters. With these marks she currently leads the SAC in both categories.
