The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for events during Jan. 7 through Jan. 13. Tusculum earned the track honors with Nicole McMillen and Queens garnered the field honors with Gabby Schultz.
A senior distance runner, McMillen finished second overall at the ETSU Invitational, nearly missing her own school record, in the 5,000 meter with a time of 18:20.63. The Pickering, Ontario, Canada native did break her school record in the mile run, crossing the line in fourth with a time of 5:14.87. This is McMillen's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
A senior thrower, Schultz broke the Royal shot put record with a mark of 14.3 meters. This toss won her the event at the JDL January College Kick-Off, ranks 13th in Division II, and is a NCAA provisional mark. The North Olmsted, Ohio native also participated in the weight throw, finishing third in the event at 15.56 meters. This is Schultz's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
