The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
Carson-Newman’s Tia Davis was tabbed as the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Mar Hill’s Shahnika Williams was tabbed as the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested Jan. 8 – 14, the League announced today.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Tia Davis was tabbed as the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Mar Hill's Shahnika Williams was tabbed as the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested Jan. 8 – 14, the League announced today.
Davis, a freshman from Ooltewah, Tenn., set two new school records in the 60-meter dash and in the 200-meter dash at the East Tennessee State University Invitational last week. She broke her previous records with times of 7.96 seconds in the 60-meter and 26.32 seconds in the 200-meter.
Williams, a junior from Auburn, N.Y., set a Mars Hill record in the long jump at the East Tennessee State University Invitational with a mark of 18 feet, seven inches. Her jump placed her fourth overall and first among Division II competitors.
The award is Davis' second Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Williams' first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
