The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Women’s Indoor Track & Field Co-Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens' To'Mara Carmichael and Savannah Drummonds from Lenoir-Rhyne were named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Field Co-Athletes of the Week for meets contested Dec. 4 - 10, the League announced today.
Carmichael, a freshman from Palmyra, N.J., finished second in the shot put with a throw of 12.91 meters, and set a new program record of 16.67 meters in the weight throw, placing third at the Appalachian State University's Mountaineer Open. The award is her first Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Drummonds, a junior from Palm Coast, Fla., finished seventh in the women's pole vault at the Mountaineer Open this past Saturday in Boone, N.C. Drummonds' pole vault of 10'6" was the second-best in school history (she holds the record as well at 11'0"). Drummonds is a 2017 indoor all-region honoree in the pole vault. This award is her first Indoor Field Athlete of the Week plaudit this season.
