The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Indoor Athletes of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Tia Daivs was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Track Runner of the Week, while Vanisha Wilshire from Wingate was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested the first week of the season, the League announced today.
Davis, a freshman sprinter, set the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 seconds. Davis also recorded a school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.53. She finished the second in the event at the Bast-Cregger Invitational to open up the season. The award is her first Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Wilshire, a junior from Louisburg, N.C., won the 25-person women's high jump competition at the JDL Fast Track College Kick-off Classic with her NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 1.70 meters Saturday. Wilshire's leap is the number four high jump in the NCAA Division II so far this season. This award is her first Indoor Track Athlete of the Week plaudit this season.
