Eight SAC Student-Athletes Named to United Soccer Coaches Women's Scholar All-South Region Team
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Eight South Atlantic Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Women's Scholar All-South Region Team. Lenoir-Rhyne led the way with four student-athletes selected.
The South region, comprised of the Peach Belt, Conference Carolinas, and the South Atlantic Conference, was comprised of a first, second, and third team.
On the first team for the Bears, junior defender Christina Shimshock and senior forward Abbie Brown were the representatives. Shimshock, an Asheville, N.C. native, is majoring in health & exercise science with a 3.81 grade point average. Brown, a native of Leeds, England, has a 3.87 GPA in the same major.
Two Bears were also selected to the second team: senior defender Claire Neibergall and junior midfielder Aqsa Mushtaq. From Springfield, Ill., Neibergall, the 2018 SAC Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete, has a 3.76 GPA in computer science. Mushtaq, a native of Bradford, England, maintains a 3.39 GPA in psychology.
Four SAC schools placed student-athletes on the third team.
For Catawba, junior defender Peyton Pruitt, a Davidson, N.C. native, has a 3.92 GPA in integrated marketing communications.
Tusculum's Nicole McMillen, a senior midfielder from Pickering, Ontario, Canada, was recently named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Second Team with her 3.91 GPA in business administration.
From Newberry, Santo Domingo, D.R. native Daphne Heyaime, a junior forward, is earning a 3.80 GPA while majoring in digital marketing.
Carson-Newman's senior forward Holly Talbut-Smith, a native of Crawley, England, maintains a 3.74 grade point average in exercise science.
