Three South Atlantic Conference Teams Remain in United Soccer Coaches Women's Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The United Soccer Coaches announced its fifth week of Division II women's soccer regional rankings on Tuesday (Oct. 2), with three teams representing the SAC in the southeast. All three teams appeared in last week's ranking and have maintained their respective spot in the regional poll.
Leading the SAC teams is Carson-Newman at No. 12 nationally and No. 2 in the region. The Eagles faced SAC opponent Newberry on the road, defeating the Wolves 3-1. Magda Mosengo and Emilee Futrell both tallied a goal and an assist in the SAC contest. A perfect 4-0 in conference, Carson-Newman has won six straight matches since dropping their first two of the season.
At No. 8 is Lenoir-Rhyne. Picking up two conference victories, the Bears racked up the goals, defeating Tusculum 3-1 and Wingate 4-0. Abbie Brown is on an impressive stretch, collecting a goal and an assist in each of the week's matches.
Rounding out the poll once again is Wingate at No. 10. The Bulldogs split their matches during the week, winning 2-0 over non-conference Chowan and taking a 4-0 loss to regionally-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne. Goalkeeper Abbey Frail finished with 10 saves despite the loss.
