Carson-Newman Women's Basketball Ranked in Two National Polls, Wingate Ranked in D2SIDA
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's women's basketball team fell to No. 20 in the latest WBCA Coaches poll and No. 23 in the new D2SIDA rankings. Wingate made an appearance in the D2SIDA poll at No. 22.
The Eagles are currently 6-2 (1-1 SAC) after falling to nationally-ranked conference foe Wingate. Mika Wester is fourth in the SAC in scoring at 17.8 points per game, while Kayla Marosites is third with 12.0 rebounds per game. Carson-Newman leads the SAC in six statistical categories: points, points per game, field goals made and attempts per game, free throw percentage, and turnovers per game.
The Bulldogs (6-2, 2-0 SAC) are on a five game winning streak, including a nine point win over nationally-ranked Carson-Newman in conference action. Wingate leads the SAC in points allowed per game with less than 57 in a contest. They are also second in points scored with 534.
