Tusculum's Long Named AstroTurf SAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum guard Mia Long has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 1 – 7, the League announced today.
Long, a sophomore from Ann Arbor, Mich., averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists as the Pioneers went 2-0 last week. Long shot 5-for-8 from the field and had a career-high 11 assists to go along with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals as the Pioneers set a season high with 15 three-pointers in the 98-68 victory at Mars Hill on Jan. 3. Against Lenoir-Rhyne, Long shot 6-for-8 from the floor for 14 points and had five rebounds as the Pioneers picked up a 71-56 victory in Hickory on Jan. 6, for the first time since 2011-12. Long shot 11-for-16 from the field in the Pioneers two victories. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
