WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week Announced

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week for games played during week six of the 2025 season. Carson-Newman's Brooklyn Lucero was named the Player of the Week and Tusculum's Megan Ackerman was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Lucero, a senior from Lomo, Colo., helped Carson-Newman to a 4-0 week with a strong showing at the plate. In the four games, Lucero went 9-of-13 (.692 average) with six runs scored. She slugged three home runs and drove in 10 runs to give her a 1.385 slugging percentage and .667 on base percentage. The Eagles scored 23 runs in a sweep of Lincoln Memorial and Lucero drove in seven of those with all three of her long balls coming against the Railsplitters. In game two, she went 3-for-3 with 2 HR and 4 RBI and scored three times.  

Ackerman, a graduate student from Gray, Tenn., went 3-0 in the circle with a save as Tusculum improved to 25-1 as a team. In her four appearances, she tossed 13.1 innings and allowed two runs and only six base runners. She posted a 1.05 ERA and 0.45 WHIP while striking out 10 batters. In a doubleheader against Anderson, she threw a complete game shut out in game one with just two hits and no walks over the seven innings. She would come back in game two to close out the 1-run win by retiring all three batters she faced, two via the strikeout.
