LONGWOOD, FLA. -- The tremendous run for the Lenoir-Rhyne softball team came to a close on Wednesday afternoon as the Bears were eliminated by UT Tyler with a 5-2 defeat. The Bears made it all the way to the Final Four before dropping today's contest, the furthest a SAC softball program has ever gone.
UT Tyler scored two in the first and one in the second to go up 3-0. They pushed it to 5-0 with a pair in the bottom of the fourth.
Despite the deficit, LR didn't give up. They cut the lead to 5-2 with a 2-run double off the bat of Lauren Rakes. However, LR couldn't get any closer as they ended their season with a 52-18 record. Meanwhile, UT Tyler -- who is 56-8 -- advances to the National Championship which starts Friday.
