The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Feb. 28
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Dakotah Fraley of Lincoln Memorial was tabbed the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Brandi Parks of Lenoir-Rhyne was selected as the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 20-Feb. 26, the League announced today.
Fraley, freshman from Walkersville, Maryland, propelled the Lady Railsplitters to a 3-1 record last weekend at the Coker Spring Tournament. She went six for eleven at the plate accruing six doubles, two home runs, six RBI and was walked three times. Fraley hit the go-ahead three-run homerun in Sunday's 6-3 victory over Lander. She finished the weekend with a batting average of .545, an on-base percentage of .667, and a slugging percentage of 1.273. Her efforts put her in the top five in batting average sitting at No. 5 in the League with an average of .474. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
Parks, a sophomore from Roaring River, North Carolina, pitched two complete games this past weekend. During those games she allowed 14 hits but only gave up two runs on her way to striking out nine batters in wins against Mount Olive and Flagler. Against Flagler, she pitched a six-hit shutout in the Bear's 2-0 victory. She had an era of .50 to couple with her undefeated efforts last week. With 57 strikeouts on the year Parks currently sits at No. 4 in the conference. Parks has eight wins on the year putting her in first place in the SAC as well as a league leading .60 earned run average. The honor marks her second Player of the Week selection this season.
