ROCK HILL, S.C. – SAC commissioner Patrick Britz on Thursday announced the hiring of Kelsey Burglund as the conference's Director of External Operations. Burglund will begin her new role in early June.
At the SAC, Burglund will lead the conference's marketing efforts, with an emphasis on enhancing SAC Championships and growing the league's corporate partner program. She will lead the conference's community engagement efforts, and manage the annual Student-Athlete Leadership Conference.
Additionally, Burglund will oversee the payment of officials, administer the national letter of intent program, assist with the preparation of SAC and NCAA reports, and serve as a championship administrator at select events.
"We're thrilled to welcome Kelsey to the SAC office staff, and believe she will be an asset to the entire conference," said Britz. "Her diverse background makes her an excellent fit as we strive to continue strengthening the SAC and providing excellent service to our membership."
Burglund comes to the SAC from the Mid-American Conference, where she served as the Championships Assistant. At the MAC, she was the game operations manager at four neutral-site championships, oversaw volunteer staff, developed sponsorship opportunities, performed research and data analysis, and assisted in the administration of 20 conference sports. Additionally, Burglund managed the development and execution of the first-annual MAC Baseball Championship Youth Clinic.
Prior to her time at the MAC, Burglund was the Administration Intern at the University at Buffalo. In her position, she assisted in the coordination of gameday operations, fan experience, management of student staff, sponsorship fulfillment and in-game promotional elements for football, volleyball, and basketball.
Burglund graduated in 2012 from Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in psychology. While at UB, she interned for the athletic department under the supervision of the Manager of University Awareness and Special Events. Along with her internship, Burglund served as President for UB True Blue, a student organization that promotes athletic events and community involvement.
"I would like to thank Commissioner Britz and the SAC membership for presenting me with this wonderful opportunity," added Burglund. "I'm very excited to contribute to such a prestigious conference, and I look forward to improving the livelihood of our student-athletes, coaches, athletic departments and fans."
Burglund is originally from Wheatley Heights, N.Y.
