The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
Lenoir-Rhyne’s PJ Lothrap was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Queens’ Ricko Meckes was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested March 12-18, the League office announced today.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's PJ Lothrap was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Queens' Ricko Meckes was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested March 12-18, the League office announced today.
Lotharp, a sophomore from Indian Trail N.C., finished third in the men's 100-meter dash at the Charlotte 49er Classic with a school-record time of 10.58 seconds. This time provisionally qualifies him to the NCAA Division II National Championships and ranks him ninth in the nation. Lotharp was also part of the Bear's 400-meter (41.80) and 1,600-meter (3:21.21) relay squads, which finished fifth and ninth, respectively, at the meet.
Meckes placed first in the javelin at the 49er Classic with a mark of 70.67 meters, setting a new program record and a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. Meckes is a freshmen field athlete from Germany.
The award is Lotharp's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Meckes' first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
