The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Track & Field Elite 18 Honoree
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Jacob Troutman from Wingate University was named the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Track and Field Elite 18 honoree, the League announced today. This is a new award for the SAC and honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average based on a minimum of 48 credit hours who is competing at the final site of each of the Conference's 18 team championship sports
Troutman, a senior from Aberdeen, N.C., carries a 3.97 GPA as a chemistry and math double major. He finished sixth in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2016 SAC championship meet with a personal-best time of 10:11.90. He followed that effort with a sixth-place finish at the 2017 SAC Championship as he crossed the line in 10:16.95. Troutman was fifth in the same event at the 2015 SAC championship event.
Troutman is a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track for the Bulldogs. He earned Academic All-District™ III honors from CoSIDA following his sophomore and junior years.
