The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, Mar. 29
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens' Jimmy Hollingsworth was tabbed the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Runner of the Week, while Kristofer Potts-Howard from Carson-Newman was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested Mar. 20th-Mar. 26th, the League announced today.
Hollingsworth, a senior from Summerfield, North Carolina, qualified for the NCAA Championship with a time of 1:50.88 in the 800-meter event at the Raleigh Relays. He finished fifth overall and currently ranks of sixth in Division II in the event. The honor marks his first Men's Track Athlete of the Week selection this season.
Potts-Howard, a sophomore from Tullahoma, Tennessee, qualified for the men's long and triple jumps on Saturday at the Tennessee Rust Busters. He came in second in the long jump with a personal-best 7.44 meters. In the triple jump, Potts-Howard again achieved a personal best jumping 14.56 meters placing him in eighth place for the event. He was competing against numerous Division I athletes to come away with his impressive finishes. The honor marks his first Men's Field Athlete of the Week this season this season.
