The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens Daniel Wallis was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Carson-Newman's Tanner Stepp was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested Jan. 29 - Feb. 4, the League office announced today.

Daniel Wallis, a freshman distance runner from the United Kingdom, had an outstanding performance at the Camel City Invite at the JDL Fast Track.  Wallis took first place in the one-mile run, clocking an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:04.86. Wallis also set meet and program records at the event, and currently ranks No. 5 in the nation in Division II.

Stepp, a native of Jefferson City, Tenn., collected his third first-place finish of the indoor season after a win in the high jump at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational on Saturday. The senior high jumper cleared a height of 2.12 meters on his first attempt, marking a new season-best for the 2017 All-American.

The award is Stepp's second Field Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Wallis' first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season.
