Mars Hill's Plougmand and Coker's Walker Named SAC WePlayed Sports Men's Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week eight of the 2024 season. Mars Hill's Peter Plougmand was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Coker's Charlie Walker earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Plougmand, a senior from Odense, Denmark, erupted for five more goals last week to lead the Lions to wins over Emory & Henry and Catawba. Plougmand had a hat trick and added an assist for seven points against the Wasps and added a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over Catawba on the road. For the week, he registered five goals and an assist for 11 points. He currently leads DII in goals (18) and points (42). This is the fourth time this season Plougmand has earned the honor.

Walker, a junior from Whistable, England, helped Coker to a 1-0 win over Tusculum on Saturday. In the win for the No. 8 team in the nation, Walker was the difference maker. He saved a penalty kick on a diving save in the first half and kept a clean sheet in the match with a pair of saves. He helped the Cobras to a 10th straight win and a 12-1 overall record on the year.
