The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Soccer Elite 20 Honoree
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – David Fairgrieve from Wingate was named the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Elite 20 honoree, the League announced today. This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average based on a minimum of 48 credit hours who is competing at the final site of each of the Conference's 20 team championship sports
Fairgrieve, a senior from Newcastle, England, carries a 3.97 GPA as a marking major. He was an academic All-District honoree during his junior season at Wingate when he started 17 games for the national champion Bulldogs. Fairgrieve played a key role in a defense that led the nation in goals-against average, allowing only eight goals while picking up five NCAA Tournament shutouts. He has made 14 starts for the SAC champion Bulldogs in 2017 as Wingate is once again the league leader in goals-against average. The Bulldogs have won the regular season SAC title every year of Fairgrieve's career.
