No. 1 Queens 4, No. 4 Lincoln Memorial 1
All-SAC midfielder Thiago Andrade tallied a hat trick, leading top-seeded Queens to a 4-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial. The Royals – who won the conference's regular-season title – will play for the championship on Sunday in their first season in the league.
Andrade, who was selected to the All-SAC First Team earlier this week, scored twice in the first half to give Queens a 2-0 advantage at the break. LMU cut the margin to one on a Yuri Passos goal in the 60th minute, but Queens' Erick Suarez answered four minutes later and Andrade added another score in the 79th minute, all but securing the Royals' spot in the title match.
Andrade's three goals give him 14 on the season, while Suarez recorded his 11th and Passon netted his second score of the year. Queens keeper Montrell Morgan – an All-Conference Second Team pick – stopped five LMU shots, while LMU's Marcel Barwanietz made eight saves.
Queens will face Anderson on Sunday at 1 p.m. for the title. The Royals beat AU 3-2 in overtime earlier this season in their only head-to-head matchup.
No. 7 Anderson 1, No. 6 Mars Hill 0
A penalty kick goal in the 62nd minute gave Anderson a 1-0 win over Mars Hill, leaving the Trojans one win shy of the program's fourth-straight Food Lion SAC Men's Soccer Championship title.
Since joining the SAC 2010, Anderson is a perfect 10-0 in SAC Championship matches. The Trojans are already the only team in SAC men's soccer history to win three or more tournament titles in a row.
After 61 scoreless minutes, midfielder Martin Brain found the net on a PK, beating Mars Hill keeper Chris Mitchell to put the Trojans on top. The game-winner followed Anderson's 1-0 quarterfinal win over Wingate on Tuesday, where Brain was also the match's lone goal scorer. Friday night's was his third goal of the season.
Anderson keeper Bo Haug made five saves on Mars Hill's six shots on goal. Mitchell, meanwhile, made two saves in defeat.
