The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, February 27
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens' Duncan Smith has been selected the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Anthony Caruso of Queens has been selected the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 20th-Feb. 26th, the League announced today.
Smith, a freshman from Chittenango, New York, scored six goals and had one assist in Sunday's 17-8 victory over Florida Southern. Smith recorded a ground ball in the matchup while also posting a perfect 100.0 shot percentage and 100.0 shot on goal percentage. Duncan is second on the team with eight goals and eleven points this season. The honor marks his first Player of the Week selection this season.
Caruso, a sophomore from Easton, Pennsylvania, secured his second win in a row this weekend after recording 11 saves against 16 shots this past weekend against Florida Southern to cement a 17-8 victory. He recorded a 68.8 save percentage while totaling four ground balls and a caused turnover. Caruso currently ranks fifth in the league in save percentage with a mark of 52.0 percent. He also is tied for third in the league for fewest goals against with only 24. The honor marks his first Player of the Week selection this season.
