Three SAC Schools Earn Spots in NCAA Southeast Region Men's Golf Poll
The Newberry Wolves earned the No. 2 spot, with the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters coming in at No. 4 and the Carson-Newman Eagles took the No. 7 slot.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference was well represented in the first NCAA Division II Southeast Region Men's Golf Poll, which was released on Friday (April 6). The Newberry Wolves earned the No. 2 spot, with the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters coming in at No. 4 and the Carson-Newman Eagles took the No. 7 slot.
Newberry enters the ranking having won five team events this season, most recently winning The Southeastern hosted by Valdosta State. The Wolves are currently ranked No. 4 in the nation according to the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll.
The Railsplitters have finished in the top-5 in seven events this season, including a win at the Spring Kick-off Invitational. They are currently ranked No. 17 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll.
Carson-Newman also comes into the ranking have placed in the top-5 in seven events this season, including winning their most recent event, the Tennessee River Rumble on April 4. The Eagles are currently ranked No. 19 in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
