The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for 2018 Men's Basketball Championship
Nationally ranked No. 1 Lincoln Memorial and No. 2 Queens finished the SAC regular season at the top of the national standings and at the top 2017-18 South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball standings. The LMU Railsplitters finished the season with a perfect 20-0 SAC record, earning their sixth consecutive SAC Regular Season Championship.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Nationally ranked No. 1 Lincoln Memorial and No. 2 Queens finished the SAC regular season at the top of the national standings and at the top 2017-18 South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball standings. The LMU Railsplitters finished the season with a perfect 20-0 SAC record, earning their sixth consecutive SAC Regular Season Championship. They also earn the top seed in the SAC Men's Basketball Championship next week. Queens earned the No. 2 seed with a SAC record of 18-2 on the year.
Carson-Newman landed the No. 3 seed with a 14-6 SAC regular season record. Wingate's 11-9 SAC record was good for the No. 4 seed and at No. 5 was Coker who finished the 2017-18 season SAC season with a 9-11 mark. Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne had 9-11 SAC records, and earned the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds, respectively, based on Coker's 3-1 record versus the Wolves and Bears, and Newberry's 1-1 record versus Carson-Newman. Anderson closed out the season with an 8-12 SAC record and earned the No. 8 seed and final spot in the championship.
The 2018 South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday (Feb. 28) before moving to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on March 3 and 4. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
