South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Announces 2019 All-Conference Teams and Award Winners
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announces its annual field hockey awards on Wednesday (Nov. 13). Limestone's Kelly Diplock earned Offensive Player of the Year, Queens' Avian Thompson garnered Defensive Player of the Year, Coker's Britt Kabo was named Freshman of the Year, and Queens' Brandi Kist was awarded the Coach of the Year award.
Diplock, a junior forward from Harare, Zimbabwe, leads the conference in goals (14), points (37), and game-winning goals (4). She is also second in the league in assists with 9. Diplock, the reigning conference offensive player of the year, also garnered South Atlantic Conference Carolinas AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week during the season.
Thompson, a sophomore from Hummelstown, Pa., was instrumental in the Royals claiming the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas regular-season title. She leads the league in shutouts (5), games started (17) and minutes played (1051). She ranks third in goals against average, allowing just 1.54 goals per game and she ranks sixth in saves with 59. Thompson earned South Atlantic Conference Carolinas AstroTurf Defensive Player of the Week honors three times during the season.
Kabo, a freshman from Marrssen, Netherlands, was the top offensive performer for the Cobras this year leading the team in goals (8), assists (12), and points (28). She ranks first in the conference in assists, is third in points and fourth in game-winning goals (3). She was awarded South Atlantic Conference Carolinas AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week honors during the season.
Kist led the Royals to their first-ever South Atlantic Conference Carolinas regular-season title, finishing the regular season with a record of 10-2 in the conference, going 12-6 overall. Her team ranked second in the league in goals with 58 and first in assists with 40, and she had four players earn player of the week honors during the 2019 season.
