Belmont Abbey Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Field Hockey Player of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced the AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for week two of the 2019 season. Belmont Abbey's Bizzy Baumeier was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Paige Hinds was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Baumeier, a freshman forward from Oak Ridge, N.C., led the Crusaders to a 2-0 record last week with a 2-0 win over Queens and an 8-3 win over Coker. She scored five goals with an assist for 11 points for the week, all against Coker. Her five goals tied a program record for goals in a game and she scored the fastest hat-trick in Belmont Abbey history, scoring three goals in the first 11 minutes and 20 seconds of the game. This is the first offensive player of the week accolade for Baumeier.
Hinds, a senior goalkeeper from Culpepper, Va., posted a 2-0 record, including her fourth career shutout with a 2-0 win over Queens. In her two games in the goal, she made five total saves, four against Queens and one versus Coker, allowing just three goals for a 1.56 goals against average and a .625 save percentage. This is Hind's first defensive player of the year honor this season.
