The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson catcher Brandon Odachowski has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week and Lenoir-Rhyne right-handed pitcher Landon Whitson has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 5-11, the League announced today.

Odachowski, a junior from Williamston, S.C., led the Trojans to a 3-1 record last week, including a three-game sweep of conference foe Coker. He batted .385 for the week with two doubles, two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI. Odachowski added a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on-base percentage of .467 for the week. He has also reached base safely in six straight games.

Whitson, a senior from Marion, N.C., led the Bears to a SAC series win over Newberry with a pair of saves. He picked up saves both games of the doubleheader against the Wolves. He pitched a third of an inning in game one, allowing no runs and no hits, securing the 7-4 victory. In game two, Whitson allowed one hit and no runs locking up the 6-4 win for the Bears in an inning of relief work.

These are the first Player of the Week selections for both Odachowski and Whitson this season.
