Six SAC Baseball Players Named Daktronics All-Americans
Six student-athletes from the SAC have been selected to the Daktronics Division II All-America Baseball Team, it was announced recently.
MARSHALL, Minn. – Six student-athletes from the SAC have been selected to the Daktronics Division II All-America Baseball Team, it was announced recently. The team is voted on by the Division II CoSIDA.
The SAC had two first-team All-Americans in Wingate senior outfielder Casey Allison and Tusculum senior utility player Cody Coffman.
Allison had a monster season at the plate for Wingate, leading the conference in home runs with 22, RBI with 68 and total bases with 163. He also hit 18 doubles, and was third in the league with a .744 slugging percentage.
Coffman, meanwhile, finished second in the SAC with a .417 batting average, helping lead Tusculum to both the regular season and conference tournament championships.
Coffman finished the season with 90 hits – the second-most in the SAC – and 19 doubles, which were the third-most in the league. Additionally, his on-base percentage of .510 was No. 2 in the SAC.
Coffman's teammate, senior outfielder Aaron Guinn, was the SAC's lone second-team All-America selection. Guinn led the conference with 92 hits, finishing with a .398 batting average for the Pioneers.
Guinn also finished eighth in the SAC in runs scored with 55 and eighth in doubles with 17.
Lincoln Memorial junior second baseman Andre Rodriguez and Tusculum senior pitcher Craig Goodman earned third-team accolades. Both were also named to the All-SAC First Team, and Goodman was selected as the league's co-Pitcher of the Year.
TC third baseman Cade Stallings closed out the SAC's representation on the Daktronics All-America team, earning an honorable mention selection.
