Dragons fall  just short to Lenoir-Rhyne 11-10

Tiffin University (0-2) battled Lenoir-Rhyne back and forth all afternoon but came up just short, falling 11-10.

The Dragons jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, with Elle Hamiltongetting two of her three goals in the game during that stretch. LR battled back to close the gap but the Dragons still held a 5-4 lead at halftime.

With the game tied 7-7 with 12:12 left, Lenoir-Rhyne scored three consecutive goals to take a 10-7 lead. Morgan Sherleyscored to get TU to within 10-8 but Lenoir-Rhyne scored again with 4:50 to play to go back in front 11-8.

Amanda Flotteron got TU back to within two goals with a goal with 4:13 to play, but LR got possession and ran the clock down, not giving the Dragons chances to get closer. Sherley fired in a shot with 22 seconds left but it was stopped.Elle MacMillan got control and scored with 15 seconds left to make it 11-10.

Flotteron fired off a last second shot after the draw control but it sailed wide right.

Overall the game was as close as could be statistically. LR held a 28-24 edge in shots and 12-11 lead in draws. The Dragons had 13 turnovers to Lenoir-Rhyne's 15, while Lenoir-Rhyne held a solid 20-10 edge in ground balls.

Hamilton had 3 goals to lead TU, while Flotteron had 2 goals and an assist. Maddy Batley had 2 goals, Sherley had a goal and assist, and Tori Nelson and MacMillan had a goal apiece.Gina Abulone added 2 assists. Kat Schneeberger took the loss in goal, making 6 saves overall.
