Trojans Defeat Catawba to Split Season Series; 75-69

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's basketball team earned an important South Atlantic Conference victory over Catawba, 75-69, on Saturday afternoon at the Abney Athletic Center.

With the victory, Anderson improves to 14-8 overall and 8-6 in conference action while Catawba drops to 12-10 overall and 10-5 SAC play.

Anderson placed three players in double-figures with sophomore Madison Baggett scoring a season-high 18 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Baggett also dished out four assists and was credited with two blocked shots. Graduate student Alexis Dillard dropped in 17 points with nine rebounds to her credit while senior Kaylee Koerperich chipped in a career-high 15 points for the Black and Gold. Koerperich also logged a career-high 34 minutes of action in the Trojans win.

Catawba also placed three players in double-figures with reserve Madison Hallman scoring 19 points including 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Reserve Talia Barnes netted 18 points while Taisha DeShazo chipped in 12 points for the Indians.

Anderson led wire-to-wire building a 16 point lead twice in the second period before Catawba cut the lead to seven heading into intermission.

Catawba cut the lead twice to two points before Anderson built a 10 point lead in the third frame. The Trojans were able to go up 13 points in the fourth on Baggett's 3-point basket with 4:20 left to play. The Indians made one final unsuccessful push cutting the lead five with 20 seconds to go. AU's Dillard made 1-of-2 free throws at the 10 second mark to finalize the victory.

-Anderson avenged an earlier loss to Catawba to split the season series.
-The Trojans were outrebounded for the second consecutive game, 44-34.
-The Black and Gold are 13-1 when leading at the half.

Anderson remains at home on Wednesday to welcome SAC opponent Lincoln Memorial to the Abney Athletic Center. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
