Eagles Win Doubles, But Lose to Pioneers

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman women's tennis (0-9) wins first doubles point of the season despite losing 4-3 to Tusculum University (6-4) on Wednesday, Mar. 15th. 

Doubles

Carson-Newman's Natasha Forrest and Julia Speiser took on Elodie Baechler and Tabitha Howe to begin doubles play. The Eagles won 6-2. Forrest and Speiser are 3-4 as a pair this season. 

Mollie Edge and Summer Reeves competed against Leonie Floeth and Ylva Fraford in the second doubles matchup. THe Eagles won 7-6 and 8-6  to clinch Carson-Newman's first doubles point this seaosn. 

Carson-Newman forfeited the third doubles set. 

Singles

Forrest faced Howe in the two spot. Forrest won in sets of 7-5 and 6-1. Forrest leads the team in singles victories with six. 

Reeves won her fifth matchup of the season when she saw Paulina Loretz in the three spot. Reeves won in sets of 7-5 and 6-1. Reeves is 4-0 in conference matchups this season. 

Anita Chornei saw her first action of the day when she took on Floeth in the one spot. Floeth won 7-5 and 6-3. Speiser lost to Baechler in consecutive sets of 6-2. Edge won her first set against Valentina Loretz 7-6. Loretz won the following sets 6-2 and 9-7. The Eagles forfeited their final singles match. 

Carson-Newman returns to action on Mar. 18th against #24 Anderson University.
