ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's tennis team bounced back after suffering a South Atlantic loss on Thursday beating Peach Belt opponent Young Harris; 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
With the win, Anderson improves to 5-2 overall while Young Harris falls to 2-2 overall on the young season.
Anderson swept the doubles portion to take an early 3-0 advantage. Playing in the No. 1 position, Nicolas Ascarrunz and Jeffrey Dayton (AU) defeated Alex Pavel and Raul Quevedo (YHC), 8-2 while Ignacio Bidegain and Preston Morpeth (AU) won over Mateo Besada and Tim Fleerkemp (YHC), 8-3, at the No. 2 slot. In the No. 3 spot, Juan Carracedo and Jerry Price (AU) fended off Jan-Niklas Graetz and Javier Villar (YHC), 8-5 to earn the third point in the doubles portion.
In the singles action, Ascarrunz, Bidegain and Dayton each earned a point to set the final score at 6-3.
Anderson returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Conference Carolinas opponent Southern Wesleyan. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m.
