CHARLOTTE, N.C – With 12 points in today's contest, Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball senior guard
Kristian Eanes joins the elite Royals 1,000-point club (1,004). The Pittsboro, N.C. native averages 12.7 points for her career with a 43.6 percent clip from the field. As a go-to scorer for the Royals, Eanes is coming off a 2019-20 season in which she socred 20-plus points in 10 games. She was a 2019-20 First Team All-SAC selection. Her new head coach already recognizes the "special" in Eanes' style of play.
"It shows the consistency she's built throughout her career," said head coach
Jen Brown on the milestone. "I know for her, she would rather have gotten the win, than to have done that. She's a selfless kid who will always put team first. She's probably one of the most talented kids I've been around…at any level."
In Curry Arena for the first time this season, Queens (0-3, 0-3 SAC) fell to the Anderson Trojans (S.C.), 67-45, on Saturday afternoon in Charlotte.
Sophomore guard
Kalaya Hall led all players with 15 points, playing a team-high 33 minutes as the primary ball-handler for the Royals.
"You can't compete with a team like Anderson (4-2, 4-2 SAC) – who's obviously a top team in the league – if you don't make shots, said Brown. "I thought to hold them to 67 points is a testament to how hard we worked through most of the game, defensively. But, at the end of the day, you have to score more points than your opponent."
Forward Brittany Bailey (11 points) and guard J'Mya Cutter (11 points) paced the Trojans.
Both teams struggled to find their footing from deep, shooting a combined 4-for-29 form three-point land.

A little rest for the Royals, as they've completed a stretch of three games in one week. They'll look ahead to a midweek contest on the road at Lenoir-Rhyne, scheduled for Wednesday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m.
