Women’s Soccer Drops Road Match at Lenoir-Rhyne; 3-1

HICKORY, N.C. – Anderson University women's soccer could not recover from an early deficit falling 3-1 on Saturday evening to South Atlantic Conference opponent Lenoir-Rhyne at Irwin Belk Track.

With the setback, the Trojans fall to 3-6-1 overall and 2-4 in SAC play while Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference action.

The Bears scored their first goal within the first 20 seconds of the opening kick-off while stretching their lead to 3-0 after goals in the 49th minute and 57th minute.

Anderson avoided the shutout when senior Lyssa Engle scored in the 82nd minute. Engle's goal was her second of the season.

Lenoir-Rhyne outshot the Black and Gold 20-6 while holding an 8-1 corner kick advantage.

Junior Abby Helm tallied six saves on the evening with two in the first half and four coming in the second half.

Anderson remains on the road as it steps out of conference to play to faceoff with rival Erskine on Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Due West.
