HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half

For a second straight match, the Saints got off to a quick start as they planted the go-ahead score just four minutes into the contest. The Blue and Gold registered a shot attempt by Drechsler two minutes in before the visitors earned a corner a few ticks later. Roeb was there to clean up the loose ball in the box with a short blast into the upper left corner for his first career goal and to stake Limestone to a 1-0 lead.

Things slowed down until graduate defender Andres Cabranes (Gijon, Spain) sent a shot sailing wide right of the frame in the 21st minute. The Saints just missed pulling ahead by two as a shot from Hancock bounced hard off the left post in the 25th minute before he placed one on cage a couple minutes later.

Although saved, the pressure proved too much for the Wolves as the Saints recorded three scores over a span of 2:30. Roeb delivered a perfectly placed corner into the box for Drechsler, who finished for his first career goal at the 33-minute mark, before Roeb hit Radoki on a free run to make it 3-0 in the 35th minute.

Roeb served up yet another dime just 40 seconds later, finding Ferreira for his first career goal to cap the 3-0 surge by the Saints. In the closing minute of the opening half, Roeb served up his fourth assist of the period when he set up Ortiz for a goal in the 45th minute as the Saints took a 5-0 cushion into the break.

Second Half

The Blue and Gold did not let off the gas to start the second half as a shot by Ferreira flew high over the bar before sophomore midfielder Thomas Mueller (Fuerth, Germany) had an attempt saved in the 51st minute. Newberry recorded its first shot on the counterattack, but Hipper was there to make the stop.

In the 56th minute, senior forward Tristyn de Laaf (Dubai, UAE) was close to making it a 6-0 contest, but his shot bounced off the crossbar. The Wolves would then snap Limestone's streak of 391 minutes without conceding a goal as the home team scored its first tally to cut the margin to 5-1 at the 58:30-mark.

The Saints would get that score back in the 64th minute, however, as Radoki recorded his second goal of the match, finishing off a feed from Hancock to put the visitors in front, 6-1. Ortiz then found the back of the net in the closing minutes, his second of the game, as Limestone closed out the decisive victory, 7-1.

TURNING POINT

Limestone jumped out to a quick lead in just the fifth minute on a goal by Roeb before the Blue and Gold took firm control of the match with three goals in less than three minutes. The Saints made it 5-0 before the half and then answered a Newberry score with two more goals, cruising to a commanding 7-1 win.
