ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's tennis team picked up a big win, 5-4, over South Atlantic Conference foe Queens on Saturday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
Anderson improves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in conference action while Queens falls to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in SAC play.
The Trojans took an early 2-1 advantage in doubles action winning at the No. 1 slot and the No. 3 position. Anderson's Laura Dean and Rebecca Bruning remain undefeated in conference play while claiming an overall record of 14-1. The No. 3 tandem Ivey Welborn and Jennifer Holcombe defeated Caroline Nielsen and Hannah Lehfeldt, 8-3, to also remain unblemished in SAC play.
Dean, Bruning and Welborn each won in straight sets to pick up just enough points to secure the 5-4 victory.
Anderson hits the road on Monday when they faceoff with SAC opponent Brevard. First serve is slated for Noon.
